Beach Bash today

With something for everyone, the sixth edition of the Chadwick Bay Beach Bash is set to kick off Saturday morning in Wright Park at 10 a.m. with a sand castle contest on the Wright Park beach. Castle-building teams may have up to 10 members for the free event.

Barbecue will be available beginning at 3 p.m. Live music is set to run from 3:30 to 10 p.m.

Popular local band, US, makes their first Dunkirk Festivals appearance to kick things off at 3:30 p.m.

Closing the evening will be Jersey, a Bruce Springsteen tribute. Coming back by popular demand, Jersey brings authenticity of the “Boss” and “E Street Band.” They make their debut at Wright Park and Beach Bash this year.

In addition to food, liquid refreshments will be available, including from the Coors Light Beer Tent.

Parking will be available by the skate park, enter from Warsaw Street. Certain streets in the area will be blocked off, look for directions.

This festival, like all City of Dunkirk Festivals, is offered to the public free of charge thanks to the generous support of corporate partners, Advanced Production Group, Dunkirk Chamber of Commerce, Coors Light, NRG Energy, Cott Beverages, DFT Communications, and National Grid.

Barker Library storytime set

Stop by the Darwin R. Barker Library for a very special storytime. Join us for stories, movies and crafts celebrating gardens, flowers, fruits and vegetables Saturday, Aug. 10 from 11 a.m. to noon.

Cruise Against Hunger to be held Aug. 10

The second annual Cruise Against Hunger will be held Saturday, Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Cross Roads Farm and Craft Market, 6017 Sherman-Westfield Road, Westfield. Motorcycles and cars are welcome to register starting at 9 a.m. that morning. Prizes and awards will be given out in 39 categories, including six for motorcycles. Vehicle registration is $8.13. A chicken and ribs barbecue will be sponsored by the Blue Star Mothers. Tickets will be available at the door. A silent auction, 50/50 raffle, corn roast and live entertainment by The Untouchables and Hot Country Liners Dance Team. Spectators are free but a donation of non-perishable food is encouraged. Tour of Chautauqua Bike Ride Aug. 10

The 30th annual Tour of Chautauqua Bike Ride will be held on Aug. 10, originating and finishing in front of the Eason Hall, 23 Elm St. Westfield. The mass start begins at 9 a.m. Water and refreshment stops and sag wagon services are provided. Helmets are required. Recreational tours of courses of 25, 40, 62, 75 and 100 miles are offered, with a meal at the finish. Entries are $20 and include a Tour of Chautauqua water bottle.
