Xi Alpha Zeta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority holds mother and daughter brunch

On Sunday, May 26, members of the Xi Alpha Zeta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority met at the Moose Club in Dunkirk for their annual Memorial Mother and Daughter Brunch.

The tables were decorated with yellow marigolds, carefully wrapped in yellow gingham material and gifted to each guest.

A separate table was set up with pictures of the recently departed members: Audrey Bifaro, Rosemary Crocoll, Christine Coughlin and Susan Favata.

They were also remembered at a Memorial Mass at St. Anthony’s Church in Fredonia.

Angeline Smith Leone was mistress of ceremonies. Members introduced their guests and Leone and Alexis Granata read poem selections. Gillian Leone read a blessing.

Victoria Clark presented the “Golden Circle Certificate,” in grateful acknowledgment of 50 years of devotion to the virtues of Beta Sigma Phi to Rosa Spann, Rosemary Sevola and Stella Granata. Also presented to each member was a Gold Circle pin and a long-stemmed yellow rose.

Recently elected officers include: Kathy Calanni as president; Sevola as vice president; Clark as secretary; and Stella Granata as treasurer.

The end of the year picnic was held at the home of Angeline Smith Leone.

The members shared a meal to which they all contributed dishes. Plans for the family picnic in August are under way.
