Schumer visits city to speak on NRG

New York state senior U.S. Senator Charles Schu-mer will be in Dunkirk today to discuss his support for repowering the NRG Dunkirk plant.

No stranger to the local area, Schumer is scheduled to be joined by state Senator Catharine Young; Assemblyman Andy Goodell; County Executive Greg Edwards; Dunkirk Mayor Anthony J. Dolce; Todd Tranum, President and CEO of the Chautauqua County Chamber of Com-merce; Doug Stock, Presi-dent Dunkirk AFL-CIO, and other local elected officials and leaders.

City Mayor Anthony J. Dolce said he was excited by the visit.

“I’m thrilled with the message he is bringing,” Dolce added. “I think it just shows this truly is a bi[artisan effort.”

The city of Dunkirk Department of Public Works has announced the city pier will close today at noon to accommodate the visit.
