Sunset Bay Experience

The Sunset Bay Experience day-long events and activities will be held Aug. 17 at The Sunset Bay Beach Club and Cabana Sam’s Sunset Bay Grill in Irving.

The day will begin with the 4th Annual 5K Run and 2.5K Eugene “Large” Kopycinski Memorial Walk at 9:30 a.m. The race starts and ends at the Sunset Bay Beach Club. The course takes runners over Iola Drive, through Sunset Bay and down South Shore Drive, twice. Course maps and registration are available on the website at www.SunsetBayExperience.com.

After the race and refreshments, Cabana Sam’s Sunset Bay Grill will hold a craft show. Unique beach glass jewelry, Avon and tupperware products will be on sale. Vendors will be displaying their wares from noon to 6 p.m. at this beachside marketplace. Tables are still available on a limited basis. Contact Nancy Noreck at sunsetbaybb@aol.com or 913-7188.

Cabana Sam’s will offer discounted drinks throughout the day with live music and “Minute-To-Win-It” games.

Tickets are available for purchase for the Basket Auction.

The Sunset Bay Volunteer Fire Department members will compete in the first “Sons of the Beach” Hose Race down Newton Avenue, with discounted drinks for volunteer firefighters (with ID and a driver’s license) at the Sunset Bay Beach Club following the trophy ceremony.

Hammerhead Swim Club

Hammerhead Swim Club early registration will take place Aug. 19-20 from 4:30-6 p.m. at the Fredonia State University Pool in Steele Hall.
