Westfield pair charged in narcotics arrest

WESTFIELD – Two Westfield residents have been sent to jail in connection with a narcotics arrest. Samuel J. Cettell, 33, and Rosa M. Cettell, 53, both of Clinton Street, were charged after deputies served a warrant on Clinton Street on Wednesday.

A three-month joint investigation by the Westfield Police Department and the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force found the pair were allegedly selling quantities of cocaine from their residence. Police were able to purchase cocaine from both of them. County Court Grand Jury warrants were issued by County Court Judge Ward. The two were taken into custody on the warrant by Westfield Police and Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office without incident.

Samuel was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance while Rosa was charged with one count of the same charge. Both were sent to the Chautauqua County Jail and will appear in Chautauqua County Court at a later date.

The Westfield Police Department and STRDTF continue to investigate the illegal sales and distribution of cocaine in the village of Westfield. Anyone with information regarding drug activity is asked to contact their local police department or the STRDTF hot line at 1-800-344-8702.

State Police at Jamestown

RANDOLPH – Cole Booth, 22, of Randolph, was charged Wednesday with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child and endangering the welfare of a child after investigation showed Booth gave alcoholic drinks to a 14 year old at a wedding reception on July 27, causing the youth to become intoxicated. Booth was processed and issued appearance tickets to appear in the Ellington Town Court at a later date.

CHERRY CREEK – Michael Priest, 35, of Cherry Creek, was charged Aug. 4 with second-degree criminal contempt after a report of a violation of protection. Troopers responded to a residence and observed Priest and the protected party and verified the order was still valid. Priest was processed and at the Cherry Creek judge’s recommendation, was released to appear in the Cherry Creek Town Court at a later date.

ELLINGTON – Matthew Buchanan-Ruiz, 22, of Dunkirk, was charged Aug. 4 with driving while intoxicated after a report of a vehicle in a ditch on Wade Hill Road. Buchanan-Ruiz failed field sobriety tests and at the State Police barracks in Jamestown provided a breath sample of .12 percent. He was processed and released to a sober individual with appearance tickets to the Ellington Town Court. Buchanan-Ruiz’s vehicle sustained minimal damage and neither Buchanan-Ruiz or his passengers was injured as a result.

SHERMAN – Arthur Reid, 22, of Sherman, was charged Aug. 3 with driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop on Main Street. Reid was pulled over for operating an unregistered go-cart and after failing field sobriety tests was taken to the State Police barracks in Jamestown where he gave a breath sample of .10 percent. Reid was processed and issued an appearance ticket for the Sherman Town Court.

SINCLAIRVILLE – Tyler Chase, 24, of Jamestown, was charged Aug. 2 with fourth-degree criminal mischief after a report that he destroyed trees by running them over with his brush hog. Chase was processed and released with a ticket for the Charlotte Town Court.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

SILVER CREEK – Josean Gutierrez, 25, of Dunkirk was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and having an uninsured motor vehicle on Thursday.

At 11:30 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop on Central Avenue. With the assistance of the K9 unit, it was discovered Gutierrez was in possession of marijuana. He was released on an appearance ticket for Silver Creek Village Court.
