Raymond Evarts of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, passed away on June 17 at age 87. Born and raised in Newburgh, N.Y., he graduated from Farmingdale Institute
of Technology (SUNY) in 1946. He worked in Newburgh and relocated in 1954 to Fredonia, N.Y. where he purchased a wine variety grape farm on West
Main Road. He operated the farm until he retired in 1988 and moved to Chagrin Falls, Ohio. There he met and lived with Carol “Chris” Strate in a home
they purchased on North Street until her death in 2010. His varied interests included boating, fishing, camping, traveling, and genealogy as well as visiting with his many cousins, nephews and nieces, all of whom he thoroughly enjoyed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Morley and Jennie Evarts; his sister Jane; his brother Jim; and his nephew Michael. His brother Bill and sister-in-law Marylyn lived nearby and were steady
companions of his. A graveside service is planned for Saturday, August 31 at 2 p.m. at the Webster Road Cemetery. After the service, friends
and relatives are invited to a gathering at the home of David and Lucy Bryant, 5212 Ellicott Road, Brocton, N.Y.
