Area gets ready for WNY visit by Obama

With President Barack Obama headed to Buffalo and other locations in upstate New York, Chau-tauqua County officials expect to have some sort of presence.

County Democratic Election Commissioner Nor-man P. Green, who is also the county’s Democratic chairman, said he is still unclear about the details of Obama’s visit to Buffalo.

“Certainly Chautauqua County will be represented at the event with the President of the United States,” he said Wednesday. “I haven’t been given any exact details.”

Obama will hit the road next week to lay out his plan for reducing college costs.

The White House says Obama will embark on a two-day bus tour next week. Along with Buffalo, he’ll be stopping in Syracuse, Binghamton and northeastern Pennsylvania.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest says Obama will explain his ideas for reducing costs and improving value.

The tour extends Obama’s recent effort to refocus on economic issues ahead of looming fiscal fights with Congress. He’s discussed infrastructure and housing in other cities.
