Accident leads to DWI charge

  • KIANTONE – A one-vehicle accident on Peck Settlement Road Saturday morning led to charges for a Jamestown man.

According to the Chau-tauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Christopher J. Conti, 42, was driving south when he swerved to miss a deer in the roadway and struck an earth embankment at 12:26 a.m.

Further investigation found Conti was allegedly intoxicated.

Conti was charged with driving while intoxicated and crossing over the hazard marking.

He was released on appearance tickets for Kiantone Town court. There were no reported injuries.

RIPLEY – Samantha Travis, 23, of Erie, Pa., was charged with second-degree harassment on Wednesday.

At 10:15 p.m., deputies responded to Route 5 for a fight complaint. Upon arrival, Travis allegedly was involved in an altercation. She was released on an appearance ticket for Ripley Town Court.

MAYVILLE – A 17-year-old male was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on Friday. Deputies responded to North Erie Street just after 10 p.m. for youths in the roadway, where the male was found to be in possession of an alleged controlled substance. He was released on appearance tickets for Ripley Town Court.

WESTFIELD – Brock D. Tyrell, 36, of Jefferson Street was charged on a family court warrant on Friday. At 8 p.m., deputies and the Westfield Police Department conducted a warrant check at Jefferson Street.

Tyrell was taken into custody on an outstanding family court warrant. He was sent to the Chautauqua County Jail and further charges are pending.

HANOVER – Timothy J. Penner, 46, of Depew was charged with driving while intoxicated and having an unsafe start on Aug. 11.

Deputies observed Penner on Alleghany Road stopped at the railroad tracks yielding to a passing train. Penner was allegedly spinning his tires while having his brakes applied and was approached by depu-ties.

He was later found to be intoxicated and will appear in Hanover Town Court at a later date.

CASSADAGA – A 17-year-old female from Buf-falo was charged with false personation, speed in zone and having an uninspected motor vehicle on Aug. 10.

At 9:32 p.m., deputies observed a vehicle headed north on North Main Street in the village of Cassadaga. Deputies stopped the vehicle and identified the driver, who allegedly provided them with a false Michigan driver’s license.

The youth was cited for the violations and issued appearance tickets for Stockton Town Court.

Steven Miller, 55, of Cassadaga was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated per se and leaving the scene of a property damage accident on Saturday.

At 7:31 p.m., deputies responded to a property damage accident that occurred at a Kwik Fill on Bennett Road in the village of Fredonia.

It was discovered the operator fled the scene following the accident.

Deputies located the vehicle and driver in the village of Cassadaga.

Miller was issued appearance tickets for court at a later date.

RIPLEY – Dennis Wade II, 36, of North East, Pa., was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated per se .08 percent or higher blood alcohol content, speed in zone and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Saturday.

At about 11:30 p.m., deputies observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on South State Street in the town of Ripley.

Upon stopping the vehicle, the operator was identified as Wade, who was allegedly intoxicated.

It was also discovered that Wade’s driving privileges in New York were revoked.

He was issued appearance tickets for Ripley Town Court.

HANOVER – A 17-year-old female from Silver Creek was charged with third-degree assault on Sunday.

At 2 a.m., deputies took a report from a female victim who stated she was attacked by another female on East Spears Road in the town of Hanover.

An investigation revealed the youth allegedly struck the victim in the head numerous times during an altercation.

She was issued an appearance ticket for Hanover Town Court.
