Silver Creek school board makes appointments
SILVER CREEK – The Silver Creek Board of Education made several staffing changes at its recent meeting.
The first action was to grant Elementary School Principal W. Scott Rudnicki tenure.
“Scott has a tireless work ethic and really cares about the kids. I am proud to share a profession with him,” Superintendent Daniel Ljiljanich said. “We are proud to have him in the district and I hope with his tenure he will be with the district for a long time.”
Rudnicki thanked the board for their compliments.
“I am looking forward to many more years,” he said.
The board also appointed Janelle Lesher as middle school Spanish teacher at a salary of $34,500. Lesher attended the meeting and Ljiljanich welcomed her to the district.
“Janelle was one of many candidates who applied for the position … She was an extremely strong candidate and I remember saying, ‘She will be a teacher who hits the ground running and will make an impact with the kids,” he said.
The board appointed Rachel Castiglia as a .5 FTE business teacher and .5 FTE dean of students at a salary of $51,156.
“Her reputation precedes her … We are happy to have her back,” Ljiljanich added.
The board accepted the resignation of Anthony Montoro and Rachel Curtin and thanked them for their service to the district. Music teacher J. Nicole Zenns and wrestling coach Ray Oberst also resigned.
The board also clarified the appointment of Shannon Near as a .5 AIS teacher and .5 elementary facilitator at a salary of $38,000. Melissa Berry was appointed as a long-term substitute, Katie Burke was appointed as grade level/department facilitator and Daniel Foy was appointed as varsity boys soccer coach.
The board also approved a contract with District Clerk Lynne Godert.
The board will meet again on Aug. 28.
