Late advisement, registration at JCC this week
Sessions will be held Thursday and Friday at Jamestown Community College for incoming students who have not already participated in advisement and registration for fall semester classes. JCC’s fall semester begins August 26.
Individuals who have been accepted for admission to JCC as new full-time students but are unable to attend a prescheduled morning session Thursday may still register for classes from 1 and 7 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday on JCC’s Jamestown Campus. Similar sessions will be held on the Cattaraugus County Campus from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday in College Center.
A group advisement/registration session will be held at the North County Center in Dunkirk on Thursday beginning at 8 a.m. Walk-in registration will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on August 23.

Gas prices fall
Average retail gasoline prices in Rochester have fallen 1.3 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.78/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 319 gas outlets in Rochester. This compares with the national average that has fallen 0.4 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.57/g, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
Including the change in gas prices in Rochester during the past week, prices yesterday were 4.8 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 3.6 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 10.8 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 13.0 cents per gallon lower than this day one year ago.
Forestville flushing lines today, Thursday
The village of Forestville will flush water lines beginning today at 8 p.m. and again starting Thursday at 8 p.m. Residents should expect cloudy water. The village urges residents to draw water that you may need before 8 p.m. today. Water customers are also advised to NOT draw hot water between 8 p.m. today until Wednesday at 6 a.m. and again between Thursday, at 8 p.m. until Friday at 6 a.m. Your patience and cooperation is appreciated.
Fredonia Planning Board meeting canceled
The regular monthly Fredonia Planning Board meeting, scheduled for today has been canceled due to lack of business before the board.
Brocton/Portland Democratic Committee event to be held Thursday
On Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., the Brocton/Portland Democratic Committee will be holding a social event at the 21 Brix Winery 6654 West Main Road (Route 20) in Portland to meet and greet the local and county endorsed Democratic candidates.
