Westfield, Brocton school boards to meet on Monday evening

The Boards of Education from Westfield Academy and Brocton Central Schools will hold a joint meeting on Monday at 6 p.m. at Westfield Academy and Central School.

Cassadaga Job Corps to celebrate graduation

The Cassadaga Job Corps Academy will be celebrating 35 years of serving young people and helping launch careers Thursday.

An open house will be open to the public beginning at 1 p.m. at the campus.

A presentation will be conducted at 2 p.m., dedicating the day and recognizing the Academy’s achievements, followed by a short reception and tours. All activities will conclude by 3 p.m.

DREAMS Advocacy Group to hold meeting today in Fredonia

DREAMS Advocacy Group will hold a monthly meeting today at Harvest Chapel, 39 Matteson St. in Fredonia, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Anyone interested in learning more about the group is welcome to attend.

Literacy Volunteers book sale Aug. 24

Literacy Volunteers’ 21 East Bookstore will host a book sale on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the bookstore. Paperback books will be $0.50 and hardcovers will be $1. There will be some specially priced books. Come browse and take home some bargains. All proceeds help promote literacy and Literacy Volun-teers.

The bookstore is located at 21 E. Second St., Dunkirk. Patrons are asked to use the Washington Avenue entrance.

will meet on Thursday

The Chautauqua County Parks Commission will meet on Thursday at Chautauqua County Airport in Jamestown.

The public is welcome to attend.

CMHS Class of 1966 to throw ‘Medicare Party’

The CMHS Class of 1966 will throw a Medicare party for classmates at 5 p.m. Friday at the residence of Terri Klaybor Rittenburg.

Classmates are told to “BYOB;” snacks and food will be provided.

Evening in the Garden to highlight heirloom tomato tasting

The Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Program of Chautauqua County will highlight the tasting of the heirloom tomatoes that are ready at their next Evening in the Garden program that will start today at 6 p.m. at the Frank Bratt Ag Center Demonstration Garden.

They will also be doing a hands-on double cropping demonstration as well as inviting the public to help Tip the “Tater” Tire Tower and harvest the potatoes that have been growing all season.

All are welcome to attend and the event is free of charge. The Frank Bratt Ag Center is at 3542 Turner Road in Jamestown.

Lakeshore Chapter’s annual picnic today

The public is invited to attend Lakeshore Chapter’s annual picnic today at 6 p.m. at the Pinewoods Bed & Breakfast, 11634 York Road, Silver Creek.

Lisa Vanstrom, constituent specialist for Senator Cathy Young, 57th District, will be in attendance. Guests are invited to meet Lisa and Lakeshore Chapter members. Lake-shore Chapter is located in Region 8, NYS Women Inc. Its mission is to build powerful women, personally, professionally and politically and to make a difference in the lives of working women.

County Firemen’s Fraternity annual meeting Thursday

The Chautauqua County Firemen’s Fraternity Inc. will hold its annual meeting on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Velzy Building, on the grounds of the Chautauqua County Firemens Fraternity Campground.

This meeting will include elections of the executive board and three open positions on the board of directors.

You must be a member to cast a vote.
