Prospective buyer fails to make deposit; County Home sale on hold

MAYVILLE – The sale of the Chautauqua County Home is on hold again.

The special meeting of the Chautauqua County Legislature scheduled for tonight at 6:30, was canceled by County Legislature Chairman Jay Gould on Tuesday evening.

County Executive Gregory Edwards recommended that Gould cancel the meeting due to the failure of the prospective purchaser of the Chautauqua County Home, Richard Platschek, to make the required purchase deposit of $1.65 million.

In response to the lack of a deposit, Edwards has terminated the agreement with Platschek and will continue efforts to find a buyer for the County Home.

Platschek had been announced as a potential Home purchaser only two weeks ago by Edwards.
