New playground equipment purchased in Fredonia
The Fredonia Elementary School is pleased to announce the purchase of new playground equipment for the 3- to 5-year-old children to be built at the Fredonia Main Street campus for the upcoming school year.
After two years of hard work, the Elementary PTA Playground Fund Committee has raised nearly $33,000 to build an addition to the existing playground behind the school to accommodate the younger and physically challenged population at the school and in the community.
The new playground area will be large enough to hold an average of two classes simultaneously, giving the entire elementary school more access to playground equipment and will facilitate scheduling outdoor play and exercise for the children.
The playground will also benefit the community, providing a playground rated for 3- to 5-year-old children in addition to the existing playground at the Wheelock School, with newly built all-accessible equipment to accommodate physically challenged children.
The Fredonia Elementary PTA will have a booth at the Farm Festival this weekend. Stop by to find out what the PTA does and how you can be involved, sign up to be a member of the PTA, and purchase spirit wear (including new outdoor blankets and cinch bags). You can also stay informed by liking the Facebook page: “Fredonia Elementary PTA.”
The PTA will also be selling commemorative engraved bricks for a decorative walkway to be constructed near the playground addition. Families and businesses interested in purchasing a commemorative brick should stop by the PTA booth, or contact the Elementary School Office for an order form.
