Blasdell man drowns near Evangola State Park

IRVING – A 32-year-old Blasdell man drowned off the shoreline of Evangola State Park Saturday night.
According to the New York State Park Police, Brian McCluskey was with several family members when they waded into the Lake Erie waters around 7:45 p.m. with the intention of swimming to a boat anchored offshore.
The family members called 911 when McCluskey went underwater and failed to resurface after several minutes. He was later found in several feet of water and pulled to shore, where CPR was administered. McCluskey was rushed to Lake Shore Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The State Park Police emphasized that the family had entered the water in an unguarded area.
Various area police agencies and the United States Coast Guard responded to the incident.
