Elaine M. Korbar
GOWANDA – Elaine M. “Queenie” Korbar, age 65, passed away Monday morning, August 26, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, NY. Born Elaine M. Putney December 25, 1947 in New York, NY, Elaine was the daughter of William M. and Carmela (Tedesco) Putney. A therapy aide for the former Gowanda Psychiatric Center, Elaine retired from the state after working for more than 18 years. She is survived by her father, William (wife Nancy) Putney of Eden, NY; a son, Kevin (wife Kathy) Gordon of Collins; grandchildren Brooke, Mackenzie and Jonathan along with brothers and sisters, Cheryl (Mike) Rathbum of Orchard Park, NY, Patricia (Paul) Ferritti of S.C., Mary (Dana) Edmonds of AZ, Debbie (Tony) Curet of MA, Carol (Paul) Putney of TX, Lori (Todd) Montgomery of PA, Denise (Brian) Bigham of Gowanda, Sandi (Robert) Tebo of OH and Robert Putney of OH. Elaine is also survived by step siblings Alan Parkin of Amherst, Greg (Fran) Parkin of Eden and Judy (Mark) Ciprich of NC. Nieces, nephews, great and great great also survive. Elaine was preceded in death by her mother Carmela Putney, (June 5, 1979); a daughter, Tara White (October 10, 2010) and a brother, William Putney (May 20, 2010). The family will receive friends at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME, 44 Center St., Gowanda (716)-532-4200 from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2013. A prayer will close the Wednesday evening visitation. A family grave-side prayer service will be held on Thursday in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Gowanda where Elaine will be laid to rest in the Putney family plot. Memorials may be made to a local charity of one’s choice.
