Benefit on Saturday for local artist to head to Europe
Twenty-year-old Irving artist Eric Johnson recently had his painting, “Seductione Jacet,” pre-selected for the annual Figurativas 13 Art Competition of the European Museum of Modern Art. The competition is one of the most prestigious international competitions in the art world.
While the 10′ by 6.5′ oil painting has been air-freighted to Barcelona, Spain for the show, a benefit is being planned on Saturday from noon until 5 p.m. to raise funds for Johnson to head to the show’s opening himself.
During the benefit, there will be an art show/sale, live music by Lockedown and Fabi Logan, a silent auction and art raffle. Refreshments, including hot dogs and pizza, will also be for sale.
The event is open to the public and will be located at Johnson’s art studio, 483 Mechanic St., Irving.
