Eden 1, Dunkirk 0
EDEN – Dunkirk lost its season-opening boys soccer match Friday, 1-0, to Eden.
The Raiders Jon Bley tallied the game’s lone goal at the 15 minute mark of the second half. Dunkirk goalkeeper Tyler Kubasik played strong between the pipes, stopping 10 shots. All four of the Marauders” shots in the non-league contest were saved by Eden netminder Joe Cuddihy.
“Overall, I was happy with my team’s effort,” Green said. “We didn’t get the outcome we would’ve liked, but we played well against a senior-laden Eden team. We have a rather inexperienced team this year, so to come up with this type of performance early in the season against an experienced Eden squad gives our team confidence and something to build off of moving forward.”
Dunkirk opens up league play when it travels to Allegany-Limestone next Wednesday.
