Lily Dale to offer workshop this weekend

At Lily Dale Gary Renard and Cindy Lora will present a two-day workshop entitled “Spiritual Awakening Through Reinterpreting Everyday Living.” Classes will be offered at the auditorium, today and Sunday.

Renard, author of “The Disappearance of the Universe,” and Lora, his wife, a spiritual psychologist, will offer guidance on meditations, and how to spiritually awaken through changes in perceptions.

Community Picnic Monday in Portland

The Portland Bicent-ennial Committee is hosting the Portland Community Picnic on Monday at 1 p.m. at Portland Community Park.

All residents of the Town of Portland and Village of Brocton are invited to attend. Please bring a dish to pass. The committee will provide paper products and beverages.

There will be a small auction after the picnic to sell the surplus items from the Bicentennial Celebration including the replica of the Arch.

Also on Monday, Jim Boltz will host a tour of Portland Evergreen Cemetery at 11 a.m.

First Wednesday Speakers Series continues

On Sept. 4, the Steel Plant Museum of Western New York’s Heritage Discovery Center will again host “First Wednesday,” a free monthly series.

The event features free entrance to the museum, free parking behind the museum, a 50/50 drawing, food and beverages available for purchase and more. The museum is located at 100 Lee St. in Buffalo.

Town of Dunkirk special meeting

The Dunkirk Town Board has scheduled a workshop and special meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, at the Town Hall, 4737 Willow Road.

The purpose of the meeting and workshop is to begin budget discussions and review a proposed local law regulating parking in the town.
