Lady Panthers improves to 3-1

The Gowanda Lady Panthers picked up another win and moved to an impressive 3-1 on the season following a 3-2 victory over Springville on Thursday in non-league girls high school tennis action.

The highlight match of the evening came in first doubles as Gowanda’s Alayna Swartz and Johnny Accordino needed three sets to down Kourtney Keys and Jordan Story, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.

“It was impressive,” Gowanda coach Andy Bobseine said. “They have never been in that situation. It came down to the last few points and they were able to capitalize.”

In second singles, Brittnee Stelley defeated Keri Frank, 6-4, 6-2, and in second doubles, the team of Brianna Thupa and Alyssa Poff handled Kelly Konwiczka and Molly Stabell, 6-4, 6-1.
