Lutheran churches to hold end of summer picnic

Immanuel Lutheran Church, 40 S. Chapel, Gowanda and Trinity Lutheran Church, 15 Porter Avenue, Silver Creek will hold their first joint end-of-summer picnic at the Wendt Shelter at Camp Pioneer on Sunday, Sept. 15. This day of fellowship will begin with an 11 a.m. worship service at the shelter. The Rev. Travis Grubbs will officiate.

Congregation members are asked to bring a dish to pass. Meat, drinks and tableware will be provided. Guests are always welcome. Camp Pioneer is located at 9324 Lake Shore Road, Angola where the Son always shines.

Non-denominational service set at St. John the Baptist

St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church on the corner of W. Fourth and Lark streets in Dunkirk on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 12:15 p.m to hold a special, non-denominational service.

The service will give thanks for students, teachers, parents and the other staff, administration and community members who are involved in the education of children.

Backpacks will be blessed. The blessing will take place on the steps of the church, or in the case of bad weather, in the entrance of the church. All are welcome.

Fruit of the Vine Ultreya

After taking the summer off, Fruit of the Vine Ultreya will resume the regular meeting schedule beginning Thursday, Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church.

With this being the first meeting of the season, the group will hold a prayer service with special guests Chris and Jack Thomann, who are the Post Cursillo coordinators.

All members are encouraged to attend.

Holy Trinity Seniors

The Holy Trinity Seniors will meet in the Parish Center at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12. Members should bring their own lunches. Recreation will follow the meeting. New members are always welcome
