Fredonia sweeps Dunkirk; Chautauqua Lake wins
The Fredonia Lady Hillbillies (2-1) dominated the Dunkirk Lady Marauders (0-3) throughout their 5-0 victory in a CCAA West League girls tennis matchup Friday in Fredonia.
Fredonia didn’t relinquish a single game outside of the second doubles matchup in which Dunkirk won its only four games of the contest.
In the first singles matchup, Georgie Gens defeated Crystal Muller 6-0, 6-0. Second singles was won by Fredonia’s Baylee Tarnowski, who defeated Ally Clement, 6-0, 6-0.
It was more of the same in the third singles matchup as Lauren Millson won her match over CC Chase, 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles action, Marina Kessler and Kelsey Vianese took down Dunkirk’s Sydney Wiant and Jessica Miller in another 6-0, 6-0 shutout. The second doubles matchup proved to be more of a contest with Sarah Zinni and Bailey Flores of Fredonia defeating Hannan Smith Wilson and Shanna Barberich by a score of 6-2, 6-2.
Chautauqua Lake 4, Jamestown 1
MAYVILLE – The Chautauqua Lake Lady Thunderbirds (1-1, 1-1) used a strong team effort to knock off Jamestown (2-1, 1-1), 4-1, Friday in CCAA West League girls high school tennis.
The highlight match came in second singles as Chautauqua Lake’s Jenelle Senske edged Abby Whisner, 6-3, 5-7 (7-5), 6-0. Meanwhile, in second doubles, the Lady Thunderbirds’ team of Emilie Christie and Autumn Shuskie rallied past Sam Melice and Jenna Valone, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.
