Gowanda woman charged in double stabbing

GOWANDA – A 48-year-old woman is behind bars after allegedly stabbing her ex-boyfriend and the woman he was with when she entered his residence at 3 Chestnut St. Friday morning.

Gowanda Police report Carol R. Silverheels, also known as Carol Fisher, of Lawtons, was charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon in the 5:20 a.m. incident. She was arraigned in Persia Town Court and sent to Cattaraugus County Jail on $25,000 bail.

Police said once entering the home, an argument between Silverheels and the man started. She then allegedly punched the 46-year-old male and the 47-year-old female visitor.

Police say she became more violent and used a 13-inch butcher knife to stab the female in the back and hand and stabbed the male in the chest before fleeing the scene.

The male victim was treated at the scene by Gowanda Ambulance Service and then transported to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo by Mercy Flight. He is listed in serious but stable condition. The female was taken to Lake Shore Hospital and later released.

The Erie County Sheriff’s Department and Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the incident.
