The Dunkirk High School Sports boosters will hold a meeting Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 5:30 p.m. in Mr. Pietro’s room.

travel softball

Amherst Lightning Fast pitch travel softball will be holding an open tryout for 12U and 14U teams Sunday, Sept. 15 (Rain date of Sept. 22), 14U registration at 1:30 p.m., tryouts begin at 2 p.m. and 12U registration at 3:30 p.m., tryout begin at 4 p.m.

The team is looking for eleven players (birth dates of 2001 and 2002 for 12U and 1999 or 2000 for 14U) who love the game of softball, who wish to play softball after high school and want to play up to 60-plus games next summer and one indoor winter tournament.

The Amherst Lightning organization currently has 16 teams ranging from 10U to the Open division (23U).

Black?Knight Hall of Fame Golf?Tournament

The Black Knight Hall of Fame Golf Tournament will take place at Tri-County Country Club on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 12:30 p.m. with a shot gun start.

All proceeds go to the BLACK KNIGHT HOF program.

Basketball officiating

course begins Sept. 11

The annual basketball officiating course offered by the Chautauqua County Board of Approved Officials begins Sept. 11 in Room 250 of Jamestown High School.

The 11-week course, held each Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., concludes with the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials examination in November. Male or female candidates need to be 18 years of age to take the course.

Veteran CCBOA board rules interpreter Roger MacTavish teaches the course, which prepares candidates for the IAABO examination and the chance to officiate area boys’ and girls’ basketball games.

The City of Dunkirk Recreation Department is seeking any interested Flag?Football players and teams.
