Active Aging Workshop scheduled Sept. 26

Life is a fantastic journey. It is full of twists and turns, ups and downs and plenty of lessons learned. It takes us on a ride that most say is much too short. “Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.” Mark Twain

Managing your life and more specifically, your healthcare is clearly a choice. We don’t always have control over every aspect of our health but there are specific things that can help to enhance our well-being as we enter the “golden years.” Eating a healthy diet, regular checkups, paying close attention to your medications, mixing medications, regular activity for your body and your brain, storing your medication safely away from everyone it is not prescribed to, disposal of unwanted medication and why that is so important for all of us.

The sixth annual Journey to Active Aging Workshop and Luncheon will be held Thursday Sept. 26 at the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. The topic this year is “Keeping Your Brain Healthy as You Age.” Our committee is particularly excited to announce that our keynote speaker is Dr. Steve Dofitas, an attending neurologist from the cutting-edge Dent Neurological Institute in Buffalo. Doors open at 8 a.m. and the program begins at 9 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon. Paid reservations must be post marked no later than Friday, September 20th and checks (including a phone number) made payable to: Journey to Active Aging Workshop mailed to: Judi Goerke, Chautauqua Physical & Occupational Therapy, Riverwalk Center, 15 South Main Street, Suite 220, Jamestown, NY 14701.
