Terry Niebel announces candidacy

Terry Niebel has officially announced his candidacy for the newly formed Chautauqua County Legislative District 5 seat in the Nov. 5 General Election, where he has accepted and will run on the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines.

In announcing his candidacy, Niebel stated, “As a small business owner I know what it’s like to reduce, eliminate waste, and strive for efficiency. These are things that businesses in Chautauqua County do every day. There’s no reason why many of these same business practices can’t be applied to county government.”

Niebel and his wife, JoAnn, founded Niebel Realty in 2002; a small locally owned and operated Real Estate Company.

A graduate of SUNY Fredonia where he received his B.A. degree in business administration and economics, he also attended St. Bonaventure University where he received his master’s in business administration.

Past memberships include the Sheridan Fire Department, the department’s marching unit, and the Moose club. Currently he is a member of: the National Association of Realtors, the New York State Association of Realtors, and a director for the County Board of Realtors.

He is also a member of the Sheridan Methodist Church, presently serving as Chairman of the Administrative Board.

As part of his announcement Niebel took a moment to recognize legislators who had recently represented parts of the old district. “Bob Duff, Rod Rodgers, Jerry Park and Bob Stewart all took the time to serve people in this district. They deserve our thanks for a job well done.”

Niebel and his wife reside in Sheridan on the family grape farm. They have three children Stacy Weber, Justin (and his wife Erin), and Lesley.
