Street closure in Fredonia today

Canadaway Street in the village of Fredonia will be closed to all thru traffic between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. today for a storm sewer crossing installation. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.

Blood screening set for Saturdays

Registration is being accepted for the 29th annual Rotary Blood Screening program.

The program includes a clinical blood test, including the colon-rectal take home test kit, and T4 Thyroxing test for $45. A PSA test is an additional $25.

Appointments are from 6:30 to 9:20 a.m. Saturday at Fredonia High School and Sept. 21 at Dunkirk High School with a free blood pressure screening and test results sent to your personal physician within one week.

Proceeds from this program stay in the Dunkirk and Fredonia communities. Call 363-3917 to register.

Applications being accepted for Pomfret ZBA

The Pomfret Town Board is accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the Zoning Board of Appeals. Anyone wishing to apply may submit a letter of interest to the town hall at 9 Day St., Fredonia, NY, 14063. Applicants are encouraged to inform the town of their interest by the close of business on Sept. 20.

Gowanda school tax collection to begin

Tax collection for the Gowanda School district will begin on Monday, Sept. 16. Bills will be mailed the Saturday before. Hours for tax location will be posted online at www.gowcsd.com.

Democratic caucus to be held Saturday

A Democratic caucus will be held Saturday, Sept. 14 starting at 3 p.m. at the Perrysburg Town Hall, 10460 Peck Hill Road.

Fireworks to wrap up history fair

The Valley Historical Society will have fireworks this Saturday to end the 15th annual Sinclairville History Fair. The fireworks will begin at 9 p.m. right after the street dance featuring the band “Two for Flinching” and will be visible from nearly everywhere in the village. This will be one of the last fireworks displays in the county this year.
