Scholarships awarded by Nathan George Foundation

The Nathan George Foundation, Inc. announces the winners of the 2013 Nathan George Memorial Scholarships. The scholarships are awarded to up to two Fredonia students who have participated in baseball or softball and up to two student athletes from Dunkirk, Silver Creek, Forestville and Brocton. Winners are selected based on essay and academic criteria, recommendations as well as community involvement.

The 2013 scholarship recipients are:

Nicole Szymczak – Graduate of the Fredonia High School Class of 2013. Nicole is the daughter of Joel and Hannah Szymczak.

Jude Gardner Graduate of the Fredonia High School Class of 2013. Jude is the son of Jude and Nicole Gardner.

Kelsey Drummond Graduate of the Dunkirk High School Class of 2013. Kelsey is the daughter of Ken and Gina Drummond.

Katherine Putcher Graduate of the Brocton High School Class of 2013.

Jordan Patterson Graduate of the Brocton High School Class of 2013. Jordan is the son of Lee and Charmaine Patterson.

Emily Markham Graduate of the Forestville High School Class of 2013. Emily is the daughter of Jim and Carol Markham.

Adam Pleva Graduate of the Forestville High School Class of 2013.

Elizabeth Golubski – Graduate of the Silver Creek Class of 2013. Elizabeth is the daughter of Brenda and Timothy Golubski.

Stephen Marcey Graduate of the Silver Creek class of 2013. Stephen is the son of Stephen and Holly Marcey and the grandson of Larry & Luane Setera and Diane Marcey.

The Nathan George Foundation, Inc. was established to honor the memory of Nathan George a 2000 graduate of Fredonia High School who lost his life in an automobile accident in May 2009. The Foundation awards annual scholarships to local high school athletes and supports youth sports programs within Northern Chautauqua County.
