Wednesday Travel League – The league held its fourth major of the season, the Frank Borowski Invitational, at Downing Golf Course, in Harborcreek, Pa.
The event is named in honor of league founder Frank Borowski, who began the league in 1979. Even though Borowski now resides in Florida and was unable to attend the event, he still received a thunderous ovation at the awards banquet at Brazill’s on Main, in Westfield. The league also honored all of those affected by the events of Sept. 11, 2001.
The overall winner of the day was Gary Richardson, who shot the low round of 79. This makes Richardson a two-time major winner, having also won the U.S. Open earlier this season. Runner-up to Richardson was Ed Tofil with an 80. Dave Criscione and Tim Walawender each shot 81 while Criscione had the low front-nine score with 39 while Richardson had the low back-nine score with 38.
