Brocton BOE meeting reset to next week
The Brocton Board of Education meeting that was scheduled for Wednesday has been rescheduled to Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. in the board room.
Brocton School postpones tour of Westfield School
The Brocton Central School District has postponed, until further notice, a visitation and tour of the Westfield Academy and Central School for middle school students that was scheduled for Thursday.
NCCR to hold ‘Doggone Good Yard & Bake Sale’ fundraiser
Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue will hold the “Doggone Good Yard & Bake Sale” on Friday and Saturday in the Learning Center at 7540 North Gale St. in Westfield. The hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. This will be a big sale with something for everyone.
On Saturday at noon, there will also be an open house so that potential adopters can come meet the wonderful dogs available. NCCR is a no-kill shelter that helps the neediest dogs – the strays, the orphaned, the abandoned.
This fundraiser will allow NCCR to continue to provide food, shelter, medical treatment and rehabilitative services to these dogs who so desperately need it.

Roundabout in effect Wednesday
The roundabout traffic pattern at routes 5, 20 and 438 will be put into effect Wednesday, according to digital signs near the intersection. The sign reflected a different date on Sunday.
Fredonia Planning Board meeting canceled
The regular meeting of the village of Fredonia’s Planning Board that was scheduled for today has been canceled due to a lack of business that has come before the board.
Friends of Anderson-Lee Library ready annual used book sale
The Friends of Anderson-Lee Library are now accepting donations for the used book sale scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. All donations may be dropped off at the library in Silver Creek and will be accepted today from noon to 8 p.m.. The three-day sale will run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. All proceeds from this sale are used to enhance library collections.
At this time, the group is not accepting encyclopedias, Reader’s Digest Condensed Books, magazines, dictionaries, or any kind of text book.
The Friends of Anderson-Lee Library is comprised of community members who support the local library. Membership is ongoing and more information about becoming a Friend of Anderson-Lee can be obtained by calling 934-3468 or by stopping at the library on Main Street in Silver Creek.
Sheridan holding tire amnesty Sept. 19-31
The town of Sheridan will begin holding a tire amnesty program on Sept. 19 and will continue to collect old tires until Sept. 31 or until full capacity has been reached. The town is limited to 500 tires. Tires must be 19 inches or less with no rims and can be delivered to the town barns for pickup. Residents may call the Sheridan Highway Department at 673-1806 to schedule a time to drop off tires.
