Local teen band Imortal to perform at Festival of Grapes
SILVER CREEK – Local teen rock band Imortal will be returning to the Festival of Grapes Saturday at 5 p.m. in front of the Backline Teen Dance Club on the outdoor stage. Drummer Trevor Cole, 15, guitarist and vocalist Zak Bogosian, 14, and bassist and vocalist Alex Bogosian, 13, cover classic rock hits from bands like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and Cream.
The band formed in winter 2008 when Zak and Trevor were in a combined fourth and fifth grade class. Not getting along well as classmates, music teacher Scott Foley assigned the two a group project hoping they would find common ground over music. They have been best friends ever since and formed the band with Zak’s brother, Alex, soon after.
The group’s first performance was in June 2009 at the fourth and fifth grade talent show at the Backline. They performed for the first time at the Festival of Grapes in 2010.
In July, Imortal also had the opportunity to open for Dio Disciples and Hair Nation. The young band members were able to get advice from legendary rock drummer Vinnie Appice after the show.
In addition, Imortal has performed at Willow Creek Winery’s concert series, the Chautauqua County Fair, the Sunset Bay Beach Club, the Backline Teen Dance Club and Silver Creek Central School’s “Rock for a Reason” concert.
After performing at the Festival of Grapes Saturday, Imortal will do a concert fundraiser at Braun’s Concert Cove in Akron for pediatric cancer research. The event is sponsored by Melina’s White Light, which honors Melina Riniolo who passed away at the age of 14 from cancer in 2010.
