Meet the Candidates to be held in Westfield
The Westfield Republican Committee is proud to sponsor a free “Meet the Candidates” event at Johnson Estate Winery in Westfield on Friday, Sept. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Meet candidates for town council, Ray Schuster; town justice, Jerry Laporte; county legislator, John Hemmer; county executive, Vince Horrigan; county clerk, Larry Barmore; district attorney, David Foley; state assembly, Andrew Goodell; and featured guest Congressman Tom Reed.
The community is welcome to come meet the candidates.
Pancake breakfast fundraiser for Ashley Gagola
Ashley Gagola, 25, suffers from gastroparesis which is a medical condition that means paralyzes stomach. She has to be fed through a feeding tube. She also suffers from mitochondrial disease. Mitochondrial are responsible for creating more than 90 percent of energy needed by the body to sustain life and support growth. When they fail less and less energy is generalized within the cell causing them to die. Cell death leads to the organs shutting down. Ashley has a 3-year-old son.
All are invited to attend the pancake breakfast and fundraiser for Ashley on Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the SEIU Union Hall, 117 Cushing St., Fredonia. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for children and free for children under 3.

Ripley School Board to meet Thursday
A regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Ripley Central School District will be held on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at 6:30 p.m., in the Elementary Library, of the Ripley Central School, for the purpose of any and all items that come before the board.
Party meeting Saturday
The Brocton/Portland Republican party will meet Saturday, Sept. 21, 9 a.m. at the Portland Town Hall.
Library board to meet Thursday
The Mary E. Seymour Memorial Free Library Board of Trustees will meet on Thursday, Sept. 19, 4 p.m. at the library in Stockton.
Road closed Wednesday
Barnes Road in the town of Portland will be closed Wednesday for culvert work. The rain day for the work is Thursday.
