Antoinette M. “Ann” Schieres, 88, of Dunkirk passed away Wednesday morning (Sept. 18, 2013) at the Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa.
She was born July 3, 1925 in Fredonia, the daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Chilli) Frazita.
A lifelong resident of the Dunkirk-Fredonia area, Mrs. Schieres had been employed by Niagara Therapy in Brocton and the Rural Ministry in Dunkirk, retiring at the age of 80.
She was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Church and an avid Buffalo Bills fan.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was most important to her.
Survivors include her daughter, Jane (George) Dorman of Dunkirk; her son, Robert Schieres of Centerville, Ohio; two brothers, Richard (Lois) Frazita of Kenmore and Charles (Janet) Frazita of Pinellas Park, Fla.; three grandchildren, Robert (Kristine) Dorman of Rochester, Jon (Megan) Dor-man of Ketchikan, Alaska; and Kimberly Burkhardt of Dayton, Ohio; seven great grandchildren, Laurel, Luke, Jessica, Kaitlin and Julia Dorman; Benjamin and Alex Burkhardt; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Schieres, whom she married Sept. 6, 1943 and who died May 9, 1961; her grandson, Jeffrey Schieres; a brother, Leonard Frazita; and her daughter-in-law, Susan Schieres.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10 o’clock in Holy Trinity Church. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
