Lady Hillbillies sweep Lady Marauders

The Fredonia Lady Hillbillies made light work of rival Dunkirk on Friday in girls high school tennis action with a 5-0 victory.

In first singles, Fredonia’s Georgie Gens downed Crystal Muller, 6-1, 6-0, while in second singles, Baylee Tarnowski took care of Ally Clement, 6-0, 6-1.

Lauren Millson won her third-singles match as she shut out CC Chase, 6-0, 6-0.

In first doubles, Marina Kessler and Kelsey Vianese blanked Hannah Smith-Wilson and Shauna Berbarich, 6-0, 6-0. The closest match came in second singles where Fredonia’s Bailey Flores and Maggie Militelli held off Sydney Wiant and Nicole Favata, 6-2, 6-4.

“It was a fast match,” Dunkirk coach Greg Catalano said. “Fredonia has an outstanding team from top to bottom. They played really well and were on their game. As long as my girls keep coming out to practice, I am happy. They try hard.”

Dunkirk plays at Chautauqua Lake on Tuesday before returning home Thursday to host Maple Grove.
