Melvin W. Foxton

Melvin W. Foxton, 85, of Silver Creek, NY went to be with the Lord on Wednesday afternoon, September 18, 2013 at TLC/Lake Shore Nursing Facility.

He was born on December 27, 1927 in Irving, NY the son of the late Lee and Daphney (Wood) Foxton.

Mel was a graduate of Silver Creek Central School “Class of 1945,” received his bachelor’s degree in education from SUNY Fredonia.

He entered the U.S. Army on April 17, 1946 and was honorably discharged on September 19, 1947. For his meritorious service during the war, he received the Army of Occupation Medal Japan and the World War II Victory Medal.

Mel retired from Silver Creek Central School as a math teacher, where he worked for 32 years. His

life was centered around his faith with Jesus Christ, his family and his students. He took great pride in his

families and students’ successes. The family is sure Mel is looking down from Heaven reading and

appreciating all the comments and condolences on Facebook. Mel sends his Blessings and Thank You’s

to all.

Besides enjoying his wife and family, Mel was an avid reader and entrepreneur. He is survived by his lov

ing wife, Marjorie (Brennan) Foxton whom he married on November 27, 1948, three sons, Keith

Foxton of Rochester, NY, Kenneth (Julie) Foxton of Columbia, MD and Dr. Kurt (Susan) Foxton of

Clinton, NY, a daughter, Karen (Robert) Foxton-Harty of Syracuse, NY, ten grandchildren, Mindy (Jeffrey) St. John, Keith (Barbara) Foxton, Paul (Jamie) Harty, Megan (Joseph) Cook, Samantha Foxton, Joshua (Amanda) Foxton, Heather, Lee, Patrick and Ian Foxton, eight great grandchildren, Christian Cook, Brayden Foxton, Evan Foxton, Jackson Cook, Owen St. John, Ella Harty, Kaleb Foxton and Ryan St. John. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Mel was predeceased by a

granddaughter, Jenelle Foxton, a sister June Green, a nephew Rick Green and a daughter-in-law Sharon

Foxton.

Friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave., Silver Creek, NY on Thursday, September 26, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 27, 2013 at

the Christ Chapel Wesleyan Church, 60 Buffalo St., Silver Creek, NY at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Michael

Leamon officiating and Pastor E. John Wood III of the Wesleyan Church of Hamburg co-officiating.
