Donald J. Strawser

Donald J. Strawser, 81, of Sheridan, died Wednesday (Sept. 18, 2013) at home. He was born Jan. 9, 1932 in Sheridan, the son of the late Joseph and Hazel

(Helwig) Strawser. A lifelong area resident, Mr. Strawser had been employed as a steelworker at AL Tech Specialty Steel in Dunkirk.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and a life member of the Sheridan VFW Post

Donald owned race horses and had been a member of the New York State Racing and Wagering Board, Western New York Harness Horseman’s Association and the U.S. Trotting Association. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane (Buczek) Strawser, whom he married Aug. 8, 1959; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Strawser Jr. Funeral services were held at the convenience of the family. Burial was in
