Common Core to be topic at TEA Party Patriots meeting Tuesday

Southern Tier TEA Party Patriots will hold its monthly general meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Lakewood American Legion, 174 Chautauqua Ave. Members will receive new information on Common Core and its hidden agenda. Updates will be presented on organization goals. Petitions addressing several issue will be available for signing. The public is invited to attend.

Award-winning poet to visit SUNY Fredonia

SUNY Fredonia will host poet Matthew Olzmann on Thursday in 202 McEwan Hall on the college campus. As part of the Mary Louise White Visiting Writers Series, Olzmann will visit with audiences, sharing a craft talk at 4 p.m. with a reading of his work to follow at 7 p.m. Olzmann is the author of the collection “Mezzanines” and the winner of the 2011 Kundiman Book Prize.
