Silver Creek gets big 1-0 win for program

ANGOLA – Hannah Seiders scored the game-winning goal as the Silver Creek Black Knights (7-1-1, 5-0-1) knocked off Lake Shore, 1-0, Friday in non-league girls high school soccer.

The winning goal came at the 20-minute mark of the first half.

“This was realistically a huge win for our program to beat a (Class) A school,” Silver Creek coach Kevin Rice said. “We have come a long way. I knew we would be competitive, and realistically, they got the better of us in the second half. My goalie was great. Melanie Linsmair is a junior for Lake Shore and is one of the best players I have seen at the high school level in my three years as coach. She is the real deal for the next level. She gave us all we could handle. What kept us in it is we didn’t give up. We kept playing and my goalie made some great saves.”

Jamie Hehir was the winning goalie, as she made 10 saves.
