Silver Creek sweeps Pine Valley in volleyball action

SILVER CREEK – Mary Williams’ eight kills and three digs lifted the Silver Creek Black Knights to a sweep of Pine Valley in CCAA East II action.

The scores read 25-22, 25-20, 25-22.

Marikate Gallivan contributed in the win with nine digs while Jordan Brooks had seven kills and a block.

The Lady Panthers were led by Aaren Waterman’s four kills and three blocks. Alex Bentham had two aces in defeat.

FORESTVILLE – Arrika Bley’s 17 kills, one assist, one block and four digs helped the North Collins Lady Eagles (6-1) hold off the Forestville Lady Hornets (5-4, 4-3), 25-21, 18-25, 27-25, 26-24, Friday in CCAA East II girls high school volleyball.

Morgan Mathis contributed in the win with 13 kills, 13 digs and an ace while Jasmine Filkov charted 10 kills, one assist and 21 digs. Angela Filkov had a kill, 39 assists, 12 digs and two aces for the winners.

“Defensively, they were very tough,” Forestville coach Jack Dugan said. “We are just going to have to get better and try to minimize errors on our end and be smarter with the ball. That’s the difference between winning and losing close games.”

The Lady Hornets were led by Baylee Gloss’ 10 digs and five aces. Alisha Szumigala had seven kills and five blocks, and Lizzy Gilman was credited with four kills and five blocks in a losing effort. Faith Mierzwa charted six aces in defeat.
