Andrew Goodell on Senior report Saturday
Senior Report with Reed Powers will have Andrew Goodell as the guest on Saturday’s television program. Goodell is the New York State Assemblyman for the 150th District.
The live, call-in program airs from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays. Individuals may call 753-5225 during that time with questions, comments or a shout-out. The program is rebroadcast each day at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. for some communities.
Powers, host of Senior Report, has been producing the television program since 1995.
The series highlights senior citizen club news for 15 minutes with the remainder of the hour-long program devoted to the featured guest.
The guest is subject to change.
Senior Report is shown live on Saturday mornings on Time Warner cable systems covering the following communities: Brocton, Cassadaga, Chautauqua, Fredonia, Mayville, North Harmony, Portland, Ripley, Sherman, Stockton and Westfield on Channel 5. In Dunkirk, Falconer, Forestville, Hanover, Irving, Jamestown, Lakewood and Silver Creek the program is on channel 19.
The show originates at the Access Channel 5 studio in Mayville. Viewers should note that all area public access channels have been dropped from Time War-ner’s analog service, but can be received on digital service with a converter or on a digital television that has been recently autoscanned.
Area blood drives scheduled this month
SUNY Fredonia will host blood drives on Oct. 2 and 3 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days in the Williams Center, rooms 142-144.
A blood drive will be held on Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Clymer Central School in the auditorium/gym on East Main Street.
Throughout October, all are invited to donate blood at the American Red Cross at 325 E. Fourth St., Jamestown. Blood drives will take place every Wednesday and Thursday from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., excluding Oct. 23 and 24.
Chautauqua Suites will host a blood drive on Oct. 3 from noon to 4 p.m. in Ball-room 4. The Chautauqua Suites are located at 215 W. Lake Road, Mayville.
A blood drive will be held in the gym of the Cassadaga Job Corps Recreation Building from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 4. at 8115 Glasglow Road, Cassadaga.
The Blessed Mary Angela Roman Catholic Parish on 324 Townsend St. in Dunkirk will host a blood drive on Oct. 21 from noon to 6 p.m.
A blood drive will be held in the Portland Fire De-partment’s social hall on Oct. 22 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 6481 W. Main Road, Portland.
Parings and Pairings at JCC Oct. 10
Parings and Pairings, a culinary adventure with Chef Tim Mills and Johnson Estate Winemaker Jeff Murphy, will be held Oct. 10 at JCC Jamestown CSCE 113/114 from 6 to 10 p.m.

Habitat for Humanity meeting Thursday evening in Jamestown
The Jamestown Satellite of the Chautauqua Area Habitat for Humanity will meet on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Jamestown Prender-gast Library Fireplace Room.
Anyone interested in participating as a volunteer in any capacity in the organization is welcome. Current-ly, Habitat is seeking individuals to work on the Family Partner Committee, Construction Committee, and/or Community Out-reach Committee.
The Jamestown Satellite has the good fortune to have a donated house to restore on Tew Street. Work there will include updating and modernizing this family home. This work can begin as soon as a volunteer base and organization is established in the Jamestown area.

Lakeshore Humane Society holds Pet Adoption Day/Open House Saturday
The Lakeshore Humane Society will hold a Pet Adoption Day/Open House at its Adoption Center on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at 431 E. Chestnut St. in Dunkirk.

Cassadaga Job Corps Academy to host
The Cassadaga Job Corps Academy will host an informational session and tour on its campus, located at 8115 Glasgow Road, Cassadaga on Thursday at 10 a.m.
The Cassadaga Job Corps provides training to begin a career in the healthcare and construction industries as well as GED classes to those in need of a diploma. Training in Certified Nurse Aide, Carpentry, Painting, Plumbing and Electrical are available as well as the Advanced Training for Licensed Practical Nurse.
The Academy will accept young adults, age 16-24, that are committed to a rigorous education and training program that are prepared to launch a career.
Applicants can apply for on-center living or off-center living, and all applicants will enroll on a full federal scholarship if accepted. Gas prices fall
Average retail gasoline prices in Rochester have fallen 5.3 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.70/g Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 319 gas outlets in Rochester. This compares with the national average that has fallen 5.8 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.43/g, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
