Brocton-Westfield wins third match in a row

BROCTON – Lindsay Harp shined Wednesday with five kills, 10 blocks and three aces as the Brocton-Westfield Lady Bulldogs (4-7, 2-5) rallied past Sherman (4-4, 3-3), 18-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-22, Wednesday in non-league girls high school volleyball.

The win was the Lady Bulldogs’ third in a row.

Jess Putcher added four kills, one ace and four digs while Carson Hauser contributed with eight assists for the winners.

The Lady Wildcats were led by Katrina Christmas’ three kills and as many blocks. Roxanne Toy finished with three kills and Cadi Hannold had six assists in a losing effort.

Brocton-Westfield also won the jayvee match.

SINCLAIRVILLE – Makenzie Tarnowski had six kills and two aces to help Fredonia (7-7) past Cassadaga Valley (1-11), 25-19, 25-15, 25-13, during non-league girls volleyball action Wednesday.

Maddy Crandall added eight assists, three aces and two kills for the Lady Hillbillies while Lea Richir charted 14 digs, two aces and two kills. Alicia Deering chipped in five aces in the win.

For the Lady Cougars, Heather Dorler had five digs, a kill and an ace, Alissa Hahn chipped in nine assists and an ace and Hope Zielinski added five kills, two blocks an assist and a dig. Also for Cassadaga Valley, Autumn Howe had three kills, a dig and a block.

FORESTVILLE – Sierra Tweedie’s eight kills, seven digs and five aces helped the Forestville Lady Hornets (7-4, 6-3) sting the Pine Valley Lady Panthers (5-6, 2-5), 25-14, 23-25, 25-18, 25-23, Wednesday in CCAA East II girls high school volleyball.

Alisha Szumigala contributed in the win with nine kills, three blocks and four digs while Baylee Gloss charted 23 digs and two aces. Lizzy Gilman added seven kills and two blocks while Ashley VanBuskirk 11 assists and two aces.

“I was pleased with our defense and passing,” Forestville coach Jack Dugan said. “I thought we made a lot of hustle plays. I was pleased with the kids who came off the bench and stepped up. They did a nice job.”

The Lady Panthers were led by Kayla Mansfield’s 15 kills and Ahleen Pollock’s 26 assists. Aleah Fancher finished with four kills, one dig and two aces while Alex Bentham had four kills and three aces in a losing effort.

The Lady Hornets also won the jayvee match.

Forestville is off until Monday when it hosts Silver Creek.

ELLICOTTVILLE – Courtney Scanlon’s 15 kills, 12 aces and seven digs lifted the Ellicottville Lady Eagles (12-1, 11-0) past Silver Creek, 25-12, 25-10, 25-18 in CCAA East II girls high school volleyball Wednesday.

Marissa Hamilton had 23 assists, four kills and five digs while Kayla Dunkleman contributed in the win with eight kills, 10 digs and four aces.

The Black Knights were led by Ally Harford’s five kills. Darrien Spruce finished with four kills and Cora Utegg charted five digs in defeat.
