Opera House to screen ‘The Pirates! Band of Misfits’ free
The 1891 Fredonia Opera House will screen the animated family film “The Pirates! Band of Misfits” on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. Sponsored by the Lily Dale Assembly as part of Family Night at the Movies, admission to the film is free.
Family Night at the Movies often features films based on or that inspire books for children. The series was originally developed as a way for adults to share the excitement of reading and great family entertainment with the children in their lives.
In “The Pirates! Band of Misfits,” the Pirate Captain and his crew have one dream: to win the much coveted Pirate of the Year Award. So they set out on a quest that takes them from the shores of exotic Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London but they never lose sight of what a pirate loves best adventure.
Pete Hammond of Box Office Magazine calls the film “one of the funniest animated films in years, or to put it in terms scallywags can understand: it’s a treasure trove of laughs.”
Free admission tickets are available only at the door on the night of the show. Seating is limited to 400; patrons are reminded that there is no food or drink allowed in the Opera House and that all children must be accompanied by an adult.
