Key Bank donates $3,000 to Dunkirk Free Library, challenges community members to support library

Recently, the Dunkirk Free Library set a goal to raise $5,000 during this year’s annual campaign. The library serves many people in the city of Dunkirk and surrounding areas as a community center and as a site for community education. The staff hoped they could meet their goal to maintain services despite the difficult economic climate.

Luckily, Key Bank stepped up to help.

Key Bank is very excited about what’s happening at the library – the children’s programs, the computer classes, and of course, the books – and their personnel want to see the library continue to flourish.

Key Bank donated $3,000 to help the library. It also challenged the community to keep supporting its library through individual contributions.

Residents of Dunkirk and the surrounding communities rose to the challenge. To date, the library has received almost $8,000, exceeding the original goal.

Now, the library and Key Bank want to raise the goal to $10,000, and urge the community to help even more. Visit the library’s website at and click the yellow “donate” button at the bottom of the page, or stop in at the library at 536 Central Ave. to find out more about donating.
