Silver Creek needs 5 games to down Fredonia

SILVER CREEK – Cora Utegg’s 22 assists, 28 digs helped the Silver Creek Black Knights (9-5,4-5) rally past Fredonia, 27-29, 25-20, 21-25, 26-24, 26-24, Friday in non-league girls high school volleyball.

Allison Harford added 14 kills and 12 digs while Mary Kate Gallivan charted 25 kills.

“It was a very fun game to watch and coach,” Silver Creek coach Bridgette Case said. “Both teams were passing really well and I think my team remained under control and calmed themselves down in the end.”

The Lady Hillbillies were led by Mackenzie Tarnowski’s seven kills and six blocks. Leah Richir had 26 digs and Emily Ludwig had seven kills in a losing effort.

BROCTON – Kayla Mansfield’s eight kills, one block and an ace lifted the Pine Valley Lady Panthers (6-7, 2-5) swept the Brocton-Westfield Lady Bulldogs (4-8, 2-5), 25-13, 25-21, 25-9, Friday in non-league girls high school soccer.

Ahleen Pollock added four aces, 10 service points and 20 assists while Aleah Fancher charted four kills and two aces in the win.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by Andrea Markham’s three kills, three blocks and three aces while Madison Matthews had a kill, three aces and 11 service points in a losing effort.

Brocton-Westfield won the jayvee match.

NORTH COLLINS – Facing a two sets to one deficit, the Ellicottville Lady Eagles (12-0, 13-1) were able to win the final two sets to come away with a 25-19, 23-25, 20-25, 25-15, 25-23 victory over the North Collins Lady Eagles (8-2, 8-5) Friday in a CCAA East II matchup.

Courtney Scanlon led Ellicottville with 28 kills, 10 digs, two aces and four blocks. Marissa Hamilton added 24 assists, seven digs, six kills and one block. Kayla Bunkleman contributed three aces, seven kills and 13 digs in the victory.

North Collins’ Angela Filkov had 26 assists and three aces in the loss. Arrike Bley chipped in 14 kills and two aces while Nicole Torrey had 11 kills and five aces in a losing effort for the Lady Eagles.
