Fuentes nets OT goal to lift Wolves to win

WESTFIELD – Christian Fuentes netted the game-winning goal in double overtime to lift the Westfield-Brocton Wolverines (4-3-2, 2-3-2) past the Falconer Golden Falcons (5-6-0, 3-5-0), 2-1, Friday in CCAA West boys high school soccer.

“It was two very even teams,” Westfield-Brocton coach Jay Pikiewicz said. “We have a pretty even league and it’s nice to see good competition.”

The Golden Falcons opened the scoring in the first half as Andrew Beckerink found the back of the net.

However, roughly 15 minutes later, Westfield-Brocton’s Bryce Bentham netted the equalizer and Dan Skinner was credited with the assist.

Ty Bentham was the winning goalie with 10 saves while Trevor Dykstra made nine in a losing effort.

Maple Grove 2, Fredonia 1 2OT

The Maple Grove Red Dragons (9-2-1, 7-1-1) escaped with a 2-1 double-overtime victory over the Fredonia Hillbillies (5-6-1, 3-5-1) on Friday in CCAA West boys high school soccer.

After a scoreless first half, Fredonia’s Jon Saeli scored at the 54:06 mark. Bryce Gifford was credited with the assist as his corner kick found Saeli, who headed the ball in from 18-yards out.

The lead was short lived as Maple Grove’s Patrick Crossley scored 46 seconds later to tie the score.

Then, at the 96:50 mark of the second half, Maple Grove’s Dominic Fabrizio scored the game-winning goal.

Morghan Thompson was the losing goalie with six saves while Kyle Richardson was the winning goalie with four saves.

Silver Creek-Forestville 4, Pine Valley 0

SILVER CREEK – Nate Serio scored two goals and assisted on another as the Silver Creek-Forestville Black Knights (4-3-1, 4-6-1) shutout the Pine Valley Panthers (1-8, 1-10), 4-0, Friday in CCAA Central League boys soccer action.

Serio scored both of his goals in the first half to give the Black Knights a 2-0 lead going into halftime. Brendan Bordo assisted on Serio’s first goal while Michael Feldman had the assist on his second.

In the second half it was Alex Loidl who took over by scoring two goals of his own to clinch the victory. Feldman recorded his second assist on Loidl’s first goal and Serio was credited with the assist on Loidl’s second.

Joe Braxton recorded four saves in his first start to earn the shutout after starting goalie Adam Klajbor injured his shoulder in practice making a diving stop.

Silver Creek-Forestville’s next contest will be on the road against Cattaraugus-Little Valley.
