Silver Creek library lauds assistance

Editor, OBSERVER:

The Friends of Anderson-Lee Library in Silver Creek extend hearty thanks to the patrons who donated and purchased items at their recent book sale. The sale has become a traditional part of Grape Festival week. Hundreds of patrons browsed, shopped and searched through a thousand books and other media items.

A profit of $900 was raised and will be used for special programs, events and the purchase of new books requested by the library staff and patrons. The Friends organization, which is a nonprofit organization, is active throughout the year. Residents from all communities are invited to join and support The Friends with a $10 individual, $15 family and $25 local business donation. Check the Facebook page or website for Anderson-Lee Library for details.

Practicing collaborative literacy efforts, The Friends donated and delivered hundreds of books left from the sale to The Literacy Volunteers of Dunkirk. The Friends encourage local residents to support The Literacy Volunteers book store, which is located at Washington Avenue and Second Street in Dunkirk. Expanding literacy and the love of books in Silver Creek and Dunkirk is evident through these opportunities and fine cultural places.
