Twenty years ago – 1993

The Dunkirk Radiator Corp?was honored recently at The Resource Center’s Disability Awareness Awards, receiving the award for being Allied Industries’ Customer of the Year. John Reed, Dunkirk Radiator’s vice president in charge of operations, accepted the award on behalf of the company. Dunkirk Radiator’s affiliation with The Resource Center goes back more than 20 years. The company historically has been the second largest customer of Allied Industries’ Dunkirk Division.

Thirty years ago – 1983

The Cliffstar Corp. of Dunkirk has reached an agreement to purchase the former Plymouth Tube Co. plant located in Dunkirk’s Progress Park. The sale is expected to close Nov. 1. Part of the large building will initially be used for non-food warehouse space, but long range plans call for the installation of new production lines in the front part of the building, company offices and leasing of space to other companies for storage purposes.

Forty years ago – 1973

Katie Waterman of Forestville was crowned Homecoming Queen this year. Her court includes Debbie Holland, Janet Dix, Sue Youngberg, Elyse Winterberger and Jill Ernst.

Fifty years ago – 1963

Claude Brooks of Brocton reported he saw a “Wonder of Nature” when he spied Jesse Craig, son of Mrs. Ethel Craig, feeding bread to a deer near the corner of Munson and Webster roads. Stopping his car, Mr. Brooks went over to the pair and found the deer to be very tame.
