All to blame in shutdown

Editor, OBSERVER:

It is too bad that the government is experiencing a shutdown, but it cannot be blamed on conservative Republicans. They have sent four government funding bills to the Senate, trying to give Democrats as much as possible and still spare us from the detrimental aspects of Obamacare.

A majority of Americans don’t want Obamacare, many small businesses cannot afford it, and even many unions don’t want it. It is Harry Reid who refuses to negotiate with House Republicans.

The government should be funded and Obamacare defunded. Then we can start over and find a real common sense answer to our nation’s health care needs. The answer is out there, but the “Affordable” Patient Care Act is not it.

Editor, OBSERVER:

Central service professionals are being celebrated for their important role and commitment to patient safety during the annual International Central Service Week, which begins today and lasts through Oct. 19. The International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) represents approximately 21,000 central service professionals in the U.S. and abroad who facilitate the procurement, management and processing of surgical supplies and equipment.

Central service professionals are integral members of the health care team who are responsible for decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, disassembling, packaging, and sterilizing reusable surgical instruments or devices in a health care facility that are essential for patient safety.

If you or someone you love has undergone a surgical procedure, a central service professional was directly responsible for the cleaning and sterilization of the instruments used throughout your operation.

Please join us in honoring these dedicated central service professionals by celebrating International Central Service Week from today to Oct. 19.

What is wrong with us Americans? Our country is being destroyed by our so-called elected representatives. The latest poll shows that 87 percent of the public is dissatisfied with Congress. Can anyone please explain to me why they are still in office? They were elected to represent the American people, and at this they have been complete failures.

I can tell you who they do represent. They represent their own individual parties, such as Republicans, Democrats, Conservatives, Liberals, the Tea Party and any group that can benefit from them politically, financially or socially.

As a World War II veteran, I can remember when this nation was the proudest, most beautiful place on earth – a true land of opportunity. We have now reached the point that even our national language is in danger of falling by the wayside. This is the fault of those we chose to lead the nation. They are simply not qualified. The answer? Come election time, show them the door.

I would like to cover one more subject if I may – the County Home. There are those who favor it and those who don’t. The figures I have show the majority is in favor of keeping it. For those in favor of keeping the Home (of which I am one), contact your legislator and inform him or her about how you would appreciate our keeping the Home. If not, as I mentioned before, show him or her the door.

Since this is the normal method of selecting candidates, I do feel this letter conforms to a letter of political opinion and is not overly radical.
