Kenneth L. Bennett

Kenneth L. Bennett began his final journey peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family: Sylvia (late Vernon) Henhawk, Sheila (Ron) Marr, Maridee (Les) Monture, Rose (Gar-ry) Nicholas, Lisa Bennett, Dennis Bennett (Adeline Jimerson) and Ken Bennett Jr.

Predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Mabel (Hill); daughter, Holly Powless and grandson, A.J. Monture; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Ken will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his chil-dren, 22 grand-children, 60 great-grandchildren; one great- great-grandchild; and his special friend, June Crouse.

Ken was a member of the SNI (Wolf Clan), a WW II Veteran of the US Navy, a retired member of Laborers Local 210. He played lacrosse for Newtown A.C. and Olean Tigers, coached jr. lacrosse for the New-town Athletic Club and Buffalo Indian Club, served as Commander of Iroquois Post 1587, was a volunteer fireman for the CIRVFD and later served as an EMT.

Ken was a great-grandson of Lewis (Deerfoot) Ben-nett, a World Distance runner who was inducted into the Track and Field Hall of Fame Class of 2009, interred in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Legion Post 1587. Friends may call today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Wentland Funeral Home, (Route 62) North Collins, NY, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m.
