Chautauqua County Antique Equipment Association to hold meeting Oct. 22
The Chautauqua County Antique Equipment Association will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at the Club Grounds at 7 p.m. Nominations for officers will be recorded. All members are urged to attend.
Bird club meets Monday
The Lake Erie Bird Club will meet Monday at 7:30 p.m. at BOCES, Fredonia-Stockton Road, Fredonia. The program will be Members’ Night of Sharing. All those attending are encouraged to share summer and fall bird sightings and birding experiences as well as their favorite birding locations.
Those attending may also bring photos on a flash drive for viewing. Refreshments will be served. For additional information about the club please call Joanne Goetz at 673-1627.
Collins to offer STAR help
Collins Town Supervisor Dave Tessmer is pleased to announce that the town of Collins assessor will be available to assist taxpayers with their 2014-2015 basic STAR registration at the Collins Public Library on Oct. 21 and 24 from 4 to 8 p.m.
Residents should bring any documents they received from New York state with their STAR code and the names and social security numbers of all listed property owners. This service is free of charge.
Meet the candidates Monday
County Executive candidate Vince Horrigan, County Clerk candidate Larry Barmore and County Legislature candidates George Borrello and Mike Sullivan will hold a “Meet the Candidates” get-together at Rookie’s Sports Bar, 19 Lake Shore Dr. East, Dunkirk on Monday, Oct. 21 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Veggies and wings will be provided and there will be a cash bar.

Buffalo Bills tailgate party Sunday
The Third annual Buffalo Bills tailgate party, sponsored by Relay for Life Team Lucky 777, will be held Sunday, Oct. 20 at the First Ward Falcon Club in Dunkirk.
It will be the Buffalo Bills vs. the Miami Dolphins. Admission is free and the game will be televised on large screen TV’s. There will be a silent auction, 50/50 and food. Festivities begin at noon.
All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.
The Sheridan VFW Ladies Auxiliary will host Towel Bingo at 6 p.m. on Oct. 23 at the VFW Post 6390 on Route 20. Admission is $5 at the door. No daubers are needed.
Fredonia to begin picking up yard waste Monday
The village of Fredonia will be picking up limbs and yard waste beginning Monday.
Collection will begin at 7 a.m. and continue until every village street has been collected once. Bags and brush are collected separately by different crews. All items for collection must be at the curb no later than 7 a.m. Monday morning. In no case will there be repeat collection of areas completed.
All yard waste must be bagged and all limbs and brush must be tied with twine. Limbs and brush must be cut no longer than four feet in length with bundles being no larger than 18 inches in diameter. Bundles and bags are limited to 65 pounds in weight. There is no collection of loose material at this time.
Residents are reminded that it is illegal to place leaves and grass into the street at any time.
Village residents may bring bagged yard waste and bundled brush to the designated area at the DPW yard, 176 Eagle St., at any time. The drop-off area will be available until further notice.
