Team Cornell shows up strong for Lucy Town 5K
JAMESTOWN – “Team Cornell,” supporters of Chautauqua County Clerk Candidate Lori Cornell, ran the Lucy Town 5K, continuing support of efforts by community organizations to breathe life and vitality into the cities and towns across Chautauqua County. With their orange T-shirts and “lose the spare tire” motto inscribed on the back, over 20 “Team Cornell” runners participated in the inaugural Lucy Town Half Marathon and 5K event.
“I think it’s important to support efforts in the community whether it’s as a candidate, an elected official or a resident,” Cornell said. “I bring my boys to many events, such as Hands On Jamestown, each and every year both to support the community and to instill in my boys the importance and responsibility to participate in your community. It really doesn’t matter what point of view you have, Republican or Democrat, it’s about people coming together to support the community.”
Cornell added that her son Benjamin, who is eight years old, finished in front of her. Cornell placed third for her age category. She thanked Lucy Town Race Director Dave Reinhardt and Lucy-Desi Center Director Journey Gunderson and for planning and organizing the event.
Team Cornell participants were Elizabeth Gattman, Heather Schlemmer, Amanda Grover, Max Radley, Lori Cornell, Jill Purol, Tani Wojcinski, Stephanie Stevens, David Stevens, Karen Zobel, Sophie Stevens, April Hooper, Julie Bell, Gib Taylor, Tina Felton, Randy Felton, Craig Felton, Kaity Felton, Trina Felton, Michael Pisko, Kathy Carlson, Benjamin Cornell and Ella Purol.
